Yes, the gains realized from the sale of Bitcoin are taxable in France. Since 2019, a specific tax regime applies to individuals selling their cryptos as part of managing their private wealth. As long as you keep your Bitcoin or exchange it for other cryptos, there is no taxation. However, as soon as you sell it for euros or use it to purchase a good or service, you must declare the capital gain, taxed at a flat rate of 30%. An exemption applies if the total sales for the year are less than €305. In addition, you must declare each year the accounts opened on foreign platforms, unless they are established in France like StackinSat. Finally, it is strongly recommended to keep the supporting documents for your transactions to anticipate a possible tax audit.
